Dare to Dream Dinner for premature babies

The Dare to Dream Dinner was a special collaboration between the Children's Research Centre and the Robinson Institute at the University of Adelaide. The event raised important funds for ongoing research into the healthy brain development of preterm children.
Researchers at the Children's Research Centre and the Robinson Institute have produced the first physiological evidence that babies born before their optimal gestation period of 40 weeks show reduced motor system development in childhood. Our neuromotor team are attempting to innovate new ways of overcoming the negative consequences of preterm birth so that premmie babies can live full and healthy lives like their term-born peers.
The findings from this research will be used to help babies like three-month-old Alex, who was born at just 23 weeks.
Freedom from Food Allergies cocktail evening

The Freedom from Food Allergies cocktail evening helped raise fresh funds for ongoing research into chronic food allergy among Australian children. One in ten Australian toddlers now suffer from food allergies, the most common sources being cow's milk, eggs and nuts.
The Children's Research Centre is collaborating with the Women's and Children's Hospital to prevent the development of food allergies at birth, and help increase food tolerance among those children with existing allergies.
Our research aims to help children like nine-year-old Jon, who can only eat ten foods, and is relying on us to lead a happier, healthier life.
