Peer Review Protocol and Reporting Documents
Below are protocols and reporting forms for Internal and External Peer Review of Teaching, and for a formative version of the Internal Peer Review process. While these protocols and forms are available for immediate adoption and use, they were designed to be adapted, and can be modified to suit the context and preferences of any university. Resources to assist in the process of adaptation are available here.
Internal Peer Review
The Internal Peer Review document deals with peer observation of classroom teaching. In its current form it is designed for observations to be performed by reviewers at the same university as the applicant for promotion, but it can be adapted for different formats if desired.

External Peer Review
The External Peer Review document deals with peer assessment of the parts of a written application for promotion that are relevant to teaching and learning. It is designed for the assessment to be performed by reviewers at a partner university, but can be adapted for internal use at some or all levels if desired.

Formative Peer Review
It is recommended that universities assist applicants for promotion by establishing formative opportunities to trial the Internal Peer Review procedure before they begin the process in its summative form. This formative version of the Internal Peer Review protocol document and reporting form can be used as a guideline for setting up a formative, preparatory peer review process at School, Faculty or Discipline level.
