Innova 21 - Australia's First 6 Green Star Education Building!
Innova21 has achieved Australia's first 6 Star Green Star Design, Education v1 environmental rating for an education building from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). This $100 million building includes active slab technology which utilises 100% fresh air ventilation for a healthy and comfortable internal environment, a system for harvesting rainwater to be used in the building's cooling towers, and for toilet flushing and irrigation, a low emission double-glazed curtain wall and a programmable lighting system, a Tri Generation Plant which produces electricity, heating and cooling, while saving energy and utility costs; and a digital Building Management System to reduce energy consumption.
The 6 Star Green Star rating is the highest awarded by the GBCA, putting the University of Adelaide at the forefront of world’s best practice in sustainability.
