TOEFL Test Preparation
The University of Adelaide’s English Language Centre’s TOEFL Test Preparation course is designed to prepare students for the challenges of the TOEFL iBT test.
The TOEFL iBT evaluates the four core language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Students taking the TOEFL Test Preparation course will not only develop their language skills (for academic purposes), but will also develop their range of effective language test taking strategies and their critical thinking skills. During the course, students will take practice tests under time limits. This will help them gain experience and confidence with the TOEFL iBT, leading to more positive test results. The course is offered at two levels: intermediate and advanced. Students are given a placement test prior to enrolment to determine which level they will enrol in.
Course content:
- Practice and learn key test-taking strategies for the TOEFL iBT
- Improve test performance under time limits
- Practice individual test sections of the TOEFL iBT using the integrated skills test format
- Learn techniques to build vocabulary
- Review key grammar points
- Improve listening comprehension skills
- Write and receive feedback on practice essays
- Take a complete practice test of the TOEFL iBT
As the ELC is an official TOEFL iBT Test location in the Adelaide CBD, you can take the test in the same computer lab that you have used for your test preparation class. The ELC is conveniently located in the centre of the city.
