Postgraduate Research Domestic Application

In 2011 The University of Adelaide implemented an online system for higher degree by research admission and scholarship applications for all Australian citizens or permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.

The following is an overview of application rounds including relevant opening and closing dates as well as admission and scholarship availability within each round. Please take note of this information before lodging your on-line application within the relevant round.

Domestic Higher Degree by Research Application Rounds
CONTINUOUS ROUND 1 January – 31 December (Admission only applications can be lodged at any time during the year)	ADMISSION ONLY No Scholarship available Outcome letter generally between two to four weeks from the date of application.
MID YEAR ROUND 10 April 2012 to 30 May 2012	ADMISSION & SCHOLARSHIP/SCHOLARSHIP ONLY *Modest allocation of available Scholarships. Applicants of the previous Major Round are not eligible to apply. Applicants must commence candidature between 1 July and 30 November of the year of application, to be eligible for scholarship. Outcomes by end of July.
2013 MAJOR ROUND 1 September 2012 to 31 October 2012	ADMISSION & SCHOLARSHIP/SCHOLARSHIP ONLY FOR 2013 ENTRY Highest number of available scholarship opportunities. Applicants must commence by 31 March of the following year to be eligible for scholarship. Outcomes by mid December.
Around 300 scholarships are offered as part of the Major Round each year, with a limited number offered during the Mid-Year Round. Applying during the Major Round is the most effective way to maximise the chances of obtaining a scholarship, as students will be considered for every available scholarship in the round, for which they are eligible. Whilst the majority of postgraduate research scholarships are offered in the Major and Mid Year Rounds there are other available scholarships with their own individual application requirements and eligibility criteria, and you should review the Postgraduate Scholarships pages in order to identify any additional opportunities that may be relevant to your situation. If you wish to apply in the 2013 Major Round, the online application form will be available from this website from 1 September 2012 to 31 October 2012.

The HELP menu within the application provides you with additional information you may require to complete your application.

You may save the data in your application and return to it at any time before submitting your final application to the Graduate Centre.

If you are applying for Admission and Scholarship please be sure to submit your final application by the relevant closing date in the above table.

When completing your application, applicants will be required to upload copies of evidence of citizenship or permanent resident status, degree parchments, academic transcripts, translations of non-English documentation, evidence of English language proficiency, a curriculum vitae and other relevant information.

You must list all of your qualifications (complete and/or incomplete) separately in your application and are required to upload a transcript for each entry. If multiple qualifications/programs are reported in the same transcript you will be required to upload the full transcript against each entry. Please note that you are not required to upload a transcript from the University of Adelaide.

Academic Referee's Confidential Report (available in pdf format only). These forms are not editable. Please direct two referees to lodge their completed Confidential Report Proformas directly with the Adelaide Graduate Centre (see below for lodgement options). Referee reports sent directly to the university by the applicant will not be accepted.

The application form identifies the additional documents that need to be submitted with an application.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION AND DOCUMENTS:

International Applications and Confidential Referee Reports should be returned either:

(1) Electronically via Email. Please scan and send your application documents as separate files in PDF format. Compressed files (eg .zip, .rar) will not be accepted.
