Induction

New Staff

Welcome to the University of Adelaide

Commencing at a new workplace can be both exciting and a little overwhelming. The transition to the new workplace is made easier and more effective if there is a thorough induction process. It is the responsibility of your supervisor to ensure you receive a comprehensive local induction. There are also the following online training courses that you will need to complete as part of your probation.

The various elements of induction, including the local induction and the online courses, will give you the most important and relevant information to enable you to settle into life on campus as quickly as possible.

Online Training Courses to be completed as part of your probation:

  • Corporate Induction
A short course introducing you to the University of Adelaide and providing you with essential tools, links and information.
  • HSW (OHS) Induction
The HSW Induction provides important information on safety and is recorded to meet statutory  requirements through the online form that is provided via a link at the end of the document.
  • Equity & Diversity (EO Online)
This course provides information on your rights and responsibilities regarding equal opportunity, discrimination and harassment under State and Federal legislation and University policy.
  • Fraud Control Induction
This course introduces the concept of fraud in the context of the University workplace and outlines what University staff should do if fraudulent behaviour is suspected.
  • Legal Compliance Induction
This course introduces the concept of legal compliance in the University context and outlines the resources available to staff to assist in development of their compliance knowledge.
  • Online Copyright Course
The Online Copyright Course is available for all staff. It is part of the required induction for new academic staff Level B and above and professional staff whose role requires an understanding of copyright issues.
  • Recordkeeping Induction
All academic and professional staff create and manage records as part of their work; this course provides you with the information to help you identify University records and understand your recordkeeping responsibilities.

Supervisors/Managers

All Supervisors/Managers with commencing staff are required to use Local Induction Templates to provide new staff with a complete local induction. The Local Induction Templates and forms for the administration of new staff are available under the Resources for Managers and Supervisors section of the Human Resources website.
