2. Why hasn’t my new contract/payment been paid yet?

Many factors affect the timing of payments for both casual and ongoing/fixed term staff. You will need to determine the following:

Casuals:

  • Has all the appropriate paperwork been completed and forwarded to Human Resources, eg Bank and Tax forms, Acceptance of Casual contract and Casual payment claim forms?
  • Was the paperwork forwarded to Human Resources before the pay cut off? Human Resources have strict deadlines for each paydate. Any paperwork received by Human Resources after this date will be processed for the following pay date. Refer to the HR Processing Timelines.
  • Has sufficient time been allowed for Departmental signatures? A large majority of paperwork for payments must be authorised by several managerial levels within the Department. Please contact your Department administration for more information.

Ongoing/Fixed term:

  • Has all the appropriate paperwork been completed and forwarded to Human Resources - eg Bank and Tax forms, Acceptance of Contract, Memo?
  • Was the paperwork forwarded to Human Resources before the paydate cut off? Human Resources have strict deadlines for each paydate. Paperwork received at Human Resources after the deadline will be processed for the following pay date. Refer to the HR Processing Timelines. Salary adjustments will be back paid accordingly.
  • Has sufficient time been allowed for Departmental signatures? A large majority of paperwork for payments must be authorised by several managerial levels within the Department. Please contact your Department administration for more information.

If you have any concerns please contact your Department, in the first instance, to determine whether the paperwork has been forwarded to Human Resources.

 3. When can I expect my Payment Summary?

In accordance with ATO regulations, Payment Summaries must be issued by 14 July each year. Payment Summaries are issued only if taxable monies were earned in the financial year and are sent to your home/mailing address. To avoid delays in receiving your payment summary ensure you update your address prior to the end of the financial year. Refer to question 9 in regards to changing your address details.

If you require a duplicate copy please send an email request.

 5. How can I update my tax details? Where can I get the necessary forms?

A Withholding Tax Declaration form must be completed with your new instructions and forwarded to Human Resources. This must be received at Human Resources prior to the paydate cut-off in order to effect your next payment.

These forms are available from Human Resources or by contacting the Australian Tax Office.

Please contact the Australian Tax Office for assistance in completing this form.

6. How can I estimate my take home pay if my salary changes?

Please refer to the ATO website for the salary calculator. This calculator will not take into account any deductions being taken from your salary, such as superannuation. If you would like to work out the tax of your fortnightly salary you will need to use a fortnightly tax table which is also available from the ATO Website.
