Education to tackle shortage of 20,000 engineers in Australia
A "CRITICAL" shortage of engineers has sparked calls for a more exciting maths and science curriculum.
Professor Peter Dowd, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences, said now was the time to act. He said places for engineering students at the University of Adelaide had almost doubled, from 537 commencing students in 2005 to 965 this year.

Volunteers for September Graduation Ceremonies
The September graduations will be held on 27-29 September 2010. These ceremonies are major public events for the University and attended by up to 1,000 people per ceremony.
Please consider volunteering, and encourage other staff from your areas to volunteer for the various roles and responsibilities involved in the ceremonies, to ensure they run smoothly.
Download an updated description of all Roles and Responsibilities. If you are able to assist please complete the Graduation Volunteers Registration Form by Friday 10 September.
Sustainability on Campus Survey
As part of the University's commitment to environmentally sustainable practices, we are surveying staff and students to find out more about their attitudes to sustainability issues and the initiatives happening across our campuses. The survey is an important step in understanding the level of awareness and priority areas requiring attention.
