IT News and Updates

The IT services and resources available to the University community are always being updated and improved. Key items that affect the community will be reflect on the Latest News section and moved to the News Archive after a period of time.

• New internet charging model for staff and students

• ITS is now supporting Netbooks for web browsing and other web based applications.

• Results of the 2008 Student Information Technology Satisfaction Survey show most students are very satisfied with the majority of IT services available to them.

• Student printing and internet quotas for 2009 have been doubled and the prices for additional quota have been slashed - see detailed information about quotas and space.

University Calendar Service – Daylight Savings Patch

Due to the recent change to the date that South Australia starts and ends Daylight Savings Time (DST), Technology Services will be deploying a patch to adjust the time zone settings in Oracle Calendar. This will affect any meetings that are scheduled in the calendar system prior to the patch being applied, for the period of:

• First Sunday to the last Sunday in October
• Last Sunday in March  to the First Sunday in April

The outcome of applying the patch will be that the meetings that are currently scheduled between these dates will be shifted forward 1 hour (e.g. if a meeting is booked for 10am it will be moved to 11am).  Users will be required to manually shift the affected meetings back 1 hour so that they match the original time settings.
