Library Card
Your staff or student Identity Card is also your Library Card.
Your Library Card must be produced to borrow an item.
If you lose your Library Card, report the loss immediately - loans
made with it before it is reported lost will be your responsibility.
A Library Card may be used only by the person to whom it was issued.
Borrowing
To borrow Main collection books, hand the book and your card to an assistant at the Service Enquiries desk. You can't borrow books without your ID card. The loan will be recorded in the computer and the due date printed on a receipt. Keep the receipt with the item to ensure you return or extend the item the item at the appropriate time. You must return the book, or renew the loan, on, or before the due date. All loan periods are subject to recall, ie loan period will be shortened to one week when required by another user. Recalled items will incur demerit points until all items are returned.What and how many
Undergraduate students may borrow items from Roseworthy Library, the Barr Smith Library and from the other branch libraries, and may have on loan up to thirty items at a time.Staff and Advanced Level students (honours, higher degree, Diploma) may have on loan up to fifty items at a time.
Reserve collection
For Reserve collection items, request the item at the Library Desk by call number. The call number is available from the Library Catalogue. Reserve collection items are issued for use in the Library for a three-hour loan period. Overnight loans are available from 4.00 pm and are due back to Roseworthy Library by 9.30 am the next day. Weekend loans are available from 4.00 pm on Friday and are due back at Roseworthy Library by 9.30 am on the following Monday.Demerit Points
Demerit points will accrue for overdue loans at the rate of 2 points per day (or part of a day) per item, or 5 points per hour (or part of an hour) for Reserve items.Overdue recalled items accumulate demerit points at the rate of 10 points per day (or part of a day).
Your borrowing privileges will be suspended for 7 days if you accrue 60 demerit points. If you do not return the loans you will receive an invoice for the cost of replacement plus a non-refundable handling charge of $30.00 per item.
Returning books
Main collection loans may be returned or renewed at any of the University of Adelaide Libraries (Barr Smith, Law, Elder Music, Roseworthy, Waite). Books borrowed from the Reserve collection must be returned directly to the Library desk from which they were borrowed.Loan periods
