Setting up a Turnitin Assignment
This lesson outlines the process for enabling and setting up a Turnitin assignment box within MyUni. This guide assumes you have instructor access to a MyUni course to add the Turnitin assignment box.
1. Within your course select Customisation > Tool Availability from under Control Panel.
2. Select Turnitin Assignment, Turnitin Assignment and Turnitin Assignment by Groups.
3. Select a content area to set up your assignment within. This example uses the Assignments content area. Select Create Assessment > Turnitin Assignment
4. Select Paper Assignment.
Note: A Revision Assignment is also available however this type of paper is only used to allow students to re-attempt a Paper Assignment they had already completed.
5. Provide an assignment title and a maximum point value for the assignment.
6. Specify a start, due and post date for the assignment.
7. Select more options.
Note the post date corresponds to when the assignment will be available for GradeMark grading. GradeMark is a additional turnitin e-marking tool.
8. Observe the default settings for a Turnitin assignment:
Originality reports are set to generate for all submissions and students can overwrite their last report by resubmitting anytime before the due date.
Bibliographic material is set to be included in the originality report and so is quoted material.
Small matches are included in the originality report and students can see their originality reports once they are generated.
No submissions will be accepted after the due date.
Grades are released to students as soon as the assignment is marked (not applicable since GradeMark is not enabled).
All papers are submitted to the the standard paper repository. This means the assignments submitted will be stored in a Turnitin repository for future originality cross checks.
The search options used to cross check assignments against are - student papers, current / archived internet, periodicals, journals and publications.
9. Modify the options to customise how the turnitin assignment behaves.
10. Select submit.
11. Select OK
