The Individual Grants Program was founded on the understanding that effective treatments for acute and chronic spinal cord injury will involve carefully orchestrated multi-disciplinary interventions, each tailored to the individual patient. For this reason, the Individual Grants Program, the largest and most comprehensive of the Reeve Foundation research initiatives, supports investigator-initiated research on a variety of fronts, including axon growth and guidance, remyelination, cellular replacement, rehabilitation and neuroprotection.

Applications will be accepted only from those with a PhD, MD, or other equivalent professional degree, employed at a qualifying research institution. Two-year awards are available for senior scientists and young investigators with a maximum funding level of US$75,000 per year.

The LCRP Lung Cancer Biospecimen Resource Network (LCBRN) Award is intended to provide infrastructure support for the development of a lung cancer biospecimen resource that will facilitate the collection, processing, annotation, storage, and distribution of high-quality human lung cancer biospecimens through a collaborative network across multiple institutions.

The purpose of these grants is to enable cancer investigators from any country to carry out bilateral research projects abroad which exploit complementary materials or skills, including advanced training in experimental methods or special techniques.

Candidates should possess appropriate scientific or medical qualifications and a minimum of two years postdoctoral experience, demonstrate active engagement in cancer research and have recent publications in the international peer-reviewed literature.

NARSAD's Young Investigator Award Program provides support for the most promising young scientists conducting neurobiological research. One and two year awards up to $30,000 per year are provided to enable promising investigators to either extend research fellowship training or begin careers as independent research faculty. Basic and/or clinical investigators are supported, but research must be relevant to serious psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, or child and adolescent psychiatric disorders.

The Foundation offers Collaborative Activity Awards to initiate interdisciplinary discussions on problems or issues, to help launch interdisciplinary research networks, or to fund communities of researchers/practitioners dedicated to developing new methods, tools, and applications of basic research to applied problems. In each case the focus of the collaborative activity must meet the program guidelines for one of the following program areas:

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF) announces the launch of the Rapid Response Innovation Awards, a one-of-a-kind rolling application program to support novel Parkinson's disease related research in real-time. The goal of this exciting new program is to rapidly support innovative research focused on the cause of and cure for Parkinson's disease (PD).

MJFF is eager to fund high-risk, high-reward projects tackling critical scientific roadblocks that if successful, can open new avenues for PD
therapy development. With the understanding that submission and review of innovative, high-risk, high-reward proposals should not be limited to one deadline each year, the Rapid Response Innovation Awards will operate on a rolling basis. Research proposals may be submitted at any time during the year and funding decisions will be made within six weeks of receiving the application. Rapid Response Innovation Awards are designed to support projects with little to no existing preliminary data, but that have the potential to significantly impact our understanding or treatment of Parkinson's disease. Research grants are available for innovative proposals that will lead to improvements in the prevention, diagnosis or therapy of Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. Investigators in nonprofit institutions worldwide are eligible for funding.

Basic and clinical investigators, scientists not currently working in inflammatory bowel disease, and interdisciplinary teams are encouraged to apply. Preference is given to proposals for work conducted with patients and with strong potential of clinical applicability in the foreseeable future. Research using non-human material should lead to translational benefits to patients with IBD.

Funding may be requested for up to two years. Second-year funding will be based on an evaluation of the progress and the perceived value of the findings from the first year of funding. There are no deadlines or specific dates by which to request funding. Proposals are accepted and reviewed year–round, and the BMRP makes every effort to provide rapid response and funding.

The Harvard Australian Studies Committee encourages applications for grants of up to US$40,000 to support academic conferences / symposia organised jointly by Australian scholars and Harvard faculty. The committee will consider support for conferences involving approx 20-40 participants drawn from Australian academic institutions, Harvard University, and elsewhere, meeting for a day or more to present and discuss current research. Proposals should identify the Australian institution(s) that will co-sponsor the planned conference. The committee will consider applications for funding to cover 50% of the estimated costs of the conference. Conferences may be held at Harvard University or at a co-sponsoring Australian institution. Proposals are not limited by academic field, but are expected to focus on issues of critical importance to current research involving both Australian and Harvard scholars.

Project AWARE Foundation provides grants to a variety of non-profit organizations, institutions and individuals involved in activities directly related to the conservation of underwater environments - both marine and freshwater. The Foundation's mission is to accomplish work through support of programs in selected focus areas including:

• Sustainable fisheries

Through its Research awards, UFAW aims to encourage high quality research that is likely to lead to substantial improvements in animal welfare. The National Geographic Society/Waitt Grants Program, an initiative of the National Geographic Society and the Waitt Institute for Discovery, helps qualified and experienced individuals launch the most difficult stage of a project for which to secure funding—the search. Grants are made for exploratory fieldwork that holds promise for new breakthroughs in the natural and social sciences. NGS/Waitt Grants applications are processed throughout the year and grants are awarded expeditiously to help researchers take advantage of immediate opportunities.

Funded through a five-year grant from the Waitt Family Foundation, the NGS/Waitt Grants Program is administered by National Geographic Mission Programs and makes approximately one hundred grants annually of $5,000 to $15,000. Proposals are considered as they are received and awards are made within weeks of application.

Highly qualified scientists of any discipline who could contribute to the scientific development of an Austrian research institution by working at it. The Lise Meitner Program is designed:

1. to enable highly qualified researchers from abroad to work at Austrian research facilities and participate in Austrian research programs for the benefit of and to stimulate research in Austria;

The Australia China Natural Gas Technology Partnership Fund (the Fund) was established in 2003 as part of an historic agreement for Australia to supply LNG to China. The fund supports activities aimed at establishing genuine, long-term partnerships within the energy sector that create positive economic and environmental outcomes, increase knowledge and skills, particularly in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry, and enhance the relationship between Australia and China.

The Australia China Natural Gas Technology Partnership Fund provides opportunities for training, scholarships, research and technology transfer between China and Australia in the natural gas and LNG industry. It has a focus on increasing knowledge about the natural gas production-to-consumption chain including liquefaction, transport, re-gasification, distribution, engineering and procurement.

The Fellowship Program in Neuro-Oncology offers a two- to three-year arrangement of clinical and research training for those who have completed an adult or pediatric neurology residency. Postdoctoral fellowships provide two years of funding to support ambitious, synthetic research on any aspect of evolutionary biology and relevant disciplines. Annual stipends will be $39,000 with $5,000 in research expenses, plus medical and dental coverage. Proposals can include any type of synthetic project, but fellows should plan on mainly working on-site, to add to our intellectual community.

Humboldt Research Fellowships for experienced researchers are the instrument with which the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation enables highly-qualified scientists and scholars from abroad, who completed their doctorates less than twelve years ago1 to spend extended periods of research (6-18 months; may be divided up into a maximum of three blocks) in Germany.

The value of the fellowship is worth 2,450 EUR per month.

This is the most prestigious award and provides long-term support for researchers of international standing. Successful candidates will have an established track record in research at the highest level. The CIMO Fellowships programme is open to young researchers (after Master-level but not post-doctorate) from all countries and from all academic fields.

The scholarship period may vary from 3 to 12 months. The monthly allowance is 800-1200 euros (in 2009). The scholarship is intended to cover living expenses in Finland for a single person. No additional allowance for housing is paid. Expenses due to international travel to and from Finland are not covered by CIMO.
