Publications Collection
Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC)
The Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC) comprises research income and research publications data submitted by universities each year to the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.
Data collected are used, along the Higher Education Student Data Collection, for determining allocations to universities under the Commercialisation Training Scheme (CTS), the Research Training Scheme (RTS), the Institutional Grants Scheme (IGS), the Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA), the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS), the Joint Research Engagement (JRE) scheme, and the Sustainable Research Excellence (SRE) program.

Key Collection Milestones
|
- All publications to be submitted to the Research Branch: 31 March
- Research Branch quality assurance and analysis to meet submission requirements: 2 June
- Obtain Vice-Chancellor's Certification Statement for the publications submission: 27 June
- HERDC submission: 30 June
