Adelaide Research & Innovation Pty Ltd is the University’s commercial development company. We offer resources, support and commercial funding pathways to the researchers of the University of Adelaide, and provide a point of access for government and business to engage with academics on research, development and innovation.

- Fee free management of consulting and research contracts (including legal, administration, risk management, tender preparation, cost and pricing strategies, invoicing and sub-contracting)

- One-stop-shop access to world-class research expertise and facilities
- Simplified contract negotiation and administration
- Investment opportunities in early stage technologies and innovations
- Gateway to leverage R&D funding programs
2009 Highlights
- Over $26 million contract research and consulting revenue
- More than 450 commercial agreements with government and industry partners
- $1.7 million royalty and licensing returns, predominately from wheat and barley varieties
- $1.5 million investment to date from the Commercial Accelerator Scheme into the development of eight early stage technologies
- $500,000 investment secured from the Trans Tasman Commercialisation Fund into new University spin out company, SNAP Video Surveillance (Australian Centre Visual Technologies)
- Nearly 500 researchers attended commercial training sessions
- New web-based reporting tool for Faculty and School finance officers to enable on demand access to project financials
- Improved two-way communication facilitated through quarterly Faculty reports and meetings
- Inaugural magazine publication titled ‘Connecting Today’s Research to Tomorrow’s Innovation’, a guide of research expertise at the University for government and industry
