March 2010
As Semester 1 gets
underway, the Prospective Students Office are also starting on their busy
annual schedule. Just as a reminder, as well as being the central
outreach and high school liaison point, the PSO devise and implement new
domestic recruitment strategies. We also spend considerable time
promoting the University interstate, and service over 90% of South
Australian high schools, both metro and country, every year.
By informing you
of our immediately forthcoming activities, this month by month bulletin
will hopefully encourage you to work with us on attracting the very best
applicants. If you would like to get involved, please contact us.
The PSO Team
Although we all
share the regular program of metro and country visits, we have other
ongoing and new projects aimed at specific groups. For example:
Tracy
Dancer is organising School Counsellors' Conference, as well as
our attendance at large expos such as VCE in Melbourne and TSCEA in
Adelaide, the December Information Sessions, and other key events
throughout the year.
Tony
Duggan will be compiling The
Adelaide Bulletin, a hard copy newsletter that goes out to
over 1000 high school contacts nationwide. He will also be managing the
University's attendance at local school careers evenings, and is involved
with Postgraduate Coursework recruitment.
Jen
Hill, Michelle McKinnon, Louise Mitchell, and Sally Owen between them manage our Access & Equity schemes. These include the
First Generation Program, Aim for Adelaide, Primary and Secondary
Horizons, our TAFE pathways campaign, Mid Year Entry Night, and Adult
Entry in general.
Renee
Naylon edits and co-ordinates our central publications and liaises
with the Faculties and our other partners to produce these.
Jit
Loh is implementing an exciting new campus tour offer, as well
as managing the Golden Key Honour Society members and co-ordinating the
PSO's contribution to Open Day.
Angela
Ballantyne manages our Headstart Scholarships,
as well as working with all of the team on the above projects, and Jason McArthur
and Emma Scott
also work on a wide variety of tasks aimed at bringing in the very best
students.
Finally, Karen Pichlmann is
the Manager, PSO, who strives to align all of this work with the
strategic aims of the University as a whole. In addition, Karen is always
keen to encourage productive dialogue between the PSO, the Faculties, and
all central staff, in order to produce the very best outcomes for us all.
We look forward to
hearing from you!
With kind regards,
The
PSO Team
