How to Apply

Applications to all undergraduate programs and most postgraduate coursework programs must be made through the South Australian Tertiary Admission Centre (SATAC).

Undergraduate Programs

Applications for undergraduate programs can be made by following the links to the SATAC UniWeb undergraduate admissions portal.

You can apply to compete for a place in a variety of undergraduate degrees (or undergraduate 'programs') on the basis of your:

Year 12, International Baccalaureate, or interstate/overseas equivalent
previous higher education (university) studies
completed VET qualification
STAT result (adult entry)
through one of the University's special access schemes.

The closing date for all undergraduate programs, including Medicine, Dentistry and Oral Health, is in late September. If you miss the closing date for February entry, mid-year entry is also available for some programs.

Eligibility

All programs have quotas limiting the number of students who can be enrolled and selection is usually based solely on academic merit. Some programs require additional criteria such as an interview or audition, while other programs list prerequisites, or subjects that have to be successfully completed by all applicants before they become eligible for consideration for entry to that program. Refer to selection criteria for full details.

Selection is competitive as the number of applicants generally exceeds the number of places available. Therefore applicants are encouraged to make full use of preferences to enhance their opportunity of receiving an offer.

Preferences

Applicants can list up to six programs to which they seek admission via their SATAC application. These are called 'preferences' and, as the name implies, should be submitted in order of preference with the most preferred option listed first and the least preferred listed last. Applicants will be offered the highest preference for which they are eligible. Not all students qualify for their first preference, so applicants are advised to list other preferences to provide themselves with alternative options.

Deferment of studies for two years is available for all programs excluding Arts/Music and other Music programs (no deferment permitted) and the Bachelor of Science (Pre-Veterinary (one year deferment only).

Honours Programs

Applications for most Honours programs are made directly to the Faculty concerned. The only exceptions are the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and the Bachelor of Science (High Performance Computational Physics)(Honours) - applications for these two programs go through SATAC as per all other undergraduate programs.

Postgraduate Programs

Applications for most postgraduate coursework programs are made through the SATAC GradStart admissions portal.

Application closing dates, offer dates and teaching commencement dates vary amongst GradStart programs – please refer to the SATAC website for details.

If the postgraduate coursework that you wish to apply for does not accept applications through SATAC, please download an application form from the relevant Faculty website.

If you are interested in a postgraduate research program, you should speak to the relevant Faculty/School in the first instance and then contact the Graduate Centre to apply.
