SmoothStart Day, the cornerstone of the networking program, will give you a chance to meet your mentor who will answer your questions and help you prepare for the semester. Through structured and informal activities you'll also meet other students studying a similar degree program through structured and informal activities.
We will introduce you to the North Terrace campus and the CBD with fun competitive group games. If the temperature is over 35C we'll focus activities indoors, so that everyone is comfortable and not affected by the weather. There will be prizes and valuable information to take away with you.
By the end of the day you will:
- Recognise some of the people who will be sitting in lectures and tutorials with you
- Most likely have forged new friendships
- Be able to identify the key student support services and their locations
- Know about city services such as bus information, medical services & cheap shopping places
- Have the contact details of your peer mentor
- Know the date, time and venue of the next SmoothStart social event
SmoothStart Day is the first of many social and academic events that you can attend, and will help lay the foundation for a great Uni career. Students who get involved in campus life within the first six weeks are more likely to complete their degrees and be successful students.
