Organising Posts

Blog posts can be structured by assigning them to categories or by tagging them with keywords.

Categories

Categories are pre-defined form of classification for a particular blog. Categories should be kept to a minimum and are used to organise the blog posts into broad groupings.

Ideally a maximum of 4-8 categories should be defined for a blog.

Each post can then be assigned to one or more categories.

Tags

Tags are keywords that are assigned to each blog post to identify what the post is about. They are not predefined for the blog and their use can develop over time.

For tags to work effectively, a limited number of tags should be used across the blog. Ideally the tags used on the should be limited to a group of 25-50 items.

That allows visitors to the blog to easily identify posts related to a particular topic.
